Dr. Steve Byrd is a 1979 graduate of Emory University School of Dentistry. He received a scholarship to Emory from the National Service Corps, that required him to practice in a rural, under-served area after dental school. He came to Unadilla in 1979 to serve out that obligation, never expecting to stay. He soon found out that he enjoyed “life in the slow lane” living in Unadilla, where he decided to settle down and raise a family. Dr. Byrd recently married the former Kathie Kinard Peavy. He has three children Lindsey, Brian, and Stacey, as well as two beautiful granddaughters.
The challenge had been to develop a state-of-the-art dental practice and get the quality recognition we deserve in a small town. To that end, we have a spacious, comfortable office with a warm, caring and experienced staff. Dr. Byrd figures he has in excess of 1,650 hours of continuing education since graduation from Emory. Most of this has focused on Cosmetic Dentistry, Oral Surgery, and Root Canal Treatment. He has been a member of the Central District Dental Society, Georgia Dental Association, and the American Dental Association for 33 years and remains an active member. During Dr. Byrd’s free time his passion is fishing. He is a member of the Georgia Bass Club Federation, in which he has held several offices. When he is not working or spending time with his family, you bet you will find him on one of Georgia’s lakes catching lots of fish.
When you practice in a small town you want to be able to offer “full-service dentistry” to your patients. We try to keep everything here and only refer to specialists when it is an absolute necessity.
